1/3% Alcohol Resistant Aqueous Film Forming-Foam Concentrate (AR-AFFF)

Tridol ATF 1-3 is a cost-effective Alcohol Resistant Aqueous Film-Forming Foam (AR-AFFF) concentrate for extinguishing and securing flammable hydrocarbon and polar solvent liquid fires.

Tridol ATF 1-3 contains a unique combination of hydrocarbon and fluorocarbon surface active agents. It produces a vapour-sealing aqueous film that spreads rapidly over hydrocarbon surfaces to provide rapid control and extinguishment. On polar solvents an insoluble polymer membrane is formed which protects the foam blanket from the solvent.

Environmental Impact

Tridol ATF 1-3 is biodegradable and virtually non-toxic to aquatic organisms, and does not contain any glycol ether.


Tridol ATF 1-3 is used in high risk situations where hydrocarbons (such as crude oil, gasoline, diesel fuel, aviation kerosene) and/or polar solvents (such as alcohols, ketones, esters, and ethers) are stored, processed, or transported. Typical applications include hydrocarbon storage tanks, process areas, warehouses, road/rail loading racks, power stations, marine terminals, and offshore platforms.


Tridol ATF 1-3 is intended for use on hydrocarbons as 1% (1 part concentrate to 99 parts of water) low expansion foam or 3% (3 parts concentrate to 97 parts water) nonaspirated foam; and on polar solvents as 3% low expansion foam. Tridol ATF 1-3 is readily proportioned using conventional foam proportioning equipment such as portable and fixed (in-line) foam venturi proportioners, handline nozzles / branchpipes with pick-up tubes, balanced pressure variable flow proportioners, balanced pressure bladder tank proportioners, and around-the-pump proportioners.

Tridol ATF 1-3 can be used with air aspirating discharge devices such as low expansion branchpipes, monitors, top pourer sets, rimseal foam pourers, foam/water sprinklers, and base (sub-surface) injection systems.

Tridol ATF 1-3 can be used at 3% with non-aspirating discharge devices such as spray/fog branchpipes and nozzles, monitors, and spray/fog sprinklers. Non-aspirated application is not recommended as the primary method of attack for major fires where a stable foam cover is essential.
